Why Choose Caprimec
1. Only macrocyclic lactone (ML) drench
registered for goats
The macrocyclic lactone (ML) drench family is widely used in
animal health programs. It is a highly effective group of drenches
with a broad spectrum of parasite control and a wide safety margin.
Until now, no MLs were available for use in goats. Caprimec is the
fi rst to be registered for use in goats.
2. Contains abamectin
Abamectin is a highly potent, short acting member of the ML
family of drenches. It achieves high potency without having a long
chemical ‘tail’, making it the ML of choice for delaying the onset of
drench resistance in goat worms.
3. Broad spectrum worm control
Caprimec will control all major internal parasites that are
susceptible to an ML drench. These include gastrointestinal
roundworms and large lungworm. These worms reduce overall
productivity especially in young animals.
4. Provides rotation away from benzimidazole
drenches
Caprimec is the fi rst registered non-BZ drench with safety and
residue data for goats, making the ideal choice to rotate with
traditionally used benzimidazole (BZ) drenches. BZ drenches are
the drenches traditionally used in goat farming operations, as no
other families of drenches had been registered for worm control.
Resistance to BZ drenches is, however, becoming a widespread
problem. In NSW, for example, BZ drench resistance is estimated
to be present on over 90% of sheep properties.
